Pearly Penile Papules (PPP) are medically known as Hirsuties papillaris genitalis. Pearly Penile Papules are round domes called angiofibromas that are located on the corona ridge of the penis. They are usually flesh coloured and form rows. Pearly Penile Papules are benign; they are not a sexually transmitted disease or genital warts. They are generally asymptomatic and have no harmful effects, though if they do affect your personal life or self–esteem, they can be treated.

Dr. Sapra has pioneered pearly penile papule treatment using Pulse Dye Laser that either completely diminishes or significantly reduces the appearance of PPP in patients. Our proven treatments are safe, easily performed and produce excellent aesthetic results with minimal scarring or discomfort. Approximately two to four treatments may be required to get the optimal result. Treatments can be done every 6-8 weeks.

  • What causes pearly penile papules?

    The cause of PPP is not known, but they are a normal occurrence in men. Once a man has developed pearly penile papules, they typically remain for life. The growths can fade with age, but they do not tend to change shape, color, or spread further over time.

  • Are pearly penile papules contagious?

    Pearly penile papules are not genital warts or a sexually transmitted disease. They are generally asymptomatic and have no harmful effects. Patients may choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons.

  • How do you get rid of pearly penile papules at home?

    There is no topical cream that will reduce or remove pearly penile papules. 

  • How much does pearly penile papule treatment cost?

    The cost of treating pearly penile papules starts at $685 for the first treatment. If additional sessions are required, follow-up treatments are priced at $370. Treatment involves a 15-minute EMLA application (a topical numbing cream) followed by a 30-minute procedure approximately an hour later.
